The Facts - Why You Really Do Need A Carbon Monoxide Alarm?

What is Carbon Monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas produced when you burn fossil fuels (gas, wood, coal, oil etc). It is difficult to detect because it has no smell, colour or taste. Carbon monoxide levels can become dangerously high when there is insufficient oxygen available for complete combustion of the fuel being burnt. There are many possible causes of this including: blocked flues, poor ventilation and faulty appliances.

What are the Symptoms of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning?

The symptoms include headache, tiredness, dizziness and nausea; these vary depending on the concentration of carbon monoxide in the air. A worst case scenario is that you could be suffering all the symptoms within 20 minutes and be dead within 1 hour.

The Honywell Carbon Monoxide Detector has a red alarm light which will flash continuously and a buzzer will sound if carbon monoxide is present, allowing you and your family time to vacate the building.

Purchased a Honeywell carbon monoxide alarm after I read a couple of local horror stories. Arrived in good time, the unit is a nice small size and sits near the stove in the sitting room. I feel a lot happier now its here.

I've had my Honeywell H450EN for 2 months, and take it with me when we go travelling in our camper van. Really like the fact you don't need to change the batteries and it has such a good guarantee.

My aunty visited me in Oct and noticed we didn't have a (CO) detector. We didn't realise we needed one, but she told me to research it on google. I was really shocked at the stories I read, anyway she ordered us a Honeywell alarm and we fitted it on the ceiling in our kitchen. Does make me feel safer, now it's installed.

This is the second one I've had, the first one went off one evening while we were all watching tv. I called the emergency gas hotline and the fire in our lounge was disconnected and later condemmed. Thank God I had one, it saved our lives.
